Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 9

Kaun Banega Crorepati (Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire) is back on Sony for its 9th season, hosted once again by legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. It premiered on 28th August 2017 to 7th November 2017 The show aired from Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm.

The game has returned this year with new twists and tweaks in the format. The season introduced a 16 question format, where the first 10 questions are timed (45 seconds for the first five questions and 60 seconds for the following five questions) The 50:50 lifeline replaced Double Dip and the Three Wise Men lifeline was replaced by the Jodidaar (from the United States version). Phone-a-Friend (now sponsored by Jio) introduced video calls. In case the contestant reaches the 16th question (Jio Jackpot Question), then the contestant cannot use the remaining lifelines.

Reportedly, with 19.8 million registrations, the show stood at the top of TRP ratings for the Indian television industry.

According to BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council, India), the agency which measures television audience viewership in India, for the last week (30 September-6 October), the Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati season 9 is the top-viewed show on Indian television. Not just that, the show has also catapulted the show's channel, Sony Entertainment Television to the top slot.
