Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - Dancing with the Stars
The Indian version of "Dancing with the Stars", Jhalak Dikhla Jaa was a reality show in which celebrities from different walks of life were trained by professional dance partners and choreographers to perform together in a series of dance styles, on a competitive stage.
From such varied backgrounds as sports, films, fashion and music, the contestants performed before a live studio audience. They were awarded points by the judges and eliminated by home-viewer voting.
The first season was hosted by the zany husband-wife team of Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi and judged by choreographer and film director Farah Khan, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and dancer-actress Shilpa Shetty. The exuberant actor Mona Singh won the first season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.
With 16 episodes, Season 1 aired on Sony Entertainment Television, Wednesdays and Thursdays, at 9 pm.
Mona Singh, the winner of Season 1, returned in the second season to take on hosting duties along with the popular TV host and actor Ronit Roy. Dancing actress Urmila Matondkar, twinkle-toed 'Jumping Jack' veteran actor-producer Jeetendra and choreographer Shiamak Davar ably took over the judges' mantle. Actress Prachi Desai emerged winner in the second season.
Season 2 aired on Fridays and Saturdays, 9 pm, on Sony Entertainment Television, featuring 25 episodes.
